Maths
Research shows that children's early maths ability is strongly linked with their attainment in maths and other subjects in later life.
A well planned environment supports maths development for children, but more importantly a carefully planned curriculum and skilled adults develop maths understanding. Equipment set out for children to explore is insufficient to develop maths alone. Research identifies that ‘only intentional activities focused on mathematics appear to make significant contributions to children’s learning (Clements and Samara, 2018:p3).
